Suffice to say that Mr C. and I received a clear message. Unspoken but nonetheless clear. So clear that we didn’t even talk about it until we understood the lesson separately, during our own personal time. It was what we both needed at this point in our lives.

As we were busy ticking off one task after the other, giving ourselves imaginary taps on the back because of our impressive planning skills, we hit a roadblock. Dumbfounded, we had to put down our pens and to do’s list and —take in the path ahead of us. The once proud shoulders finally slumped and the busy minds suddenly paused.

Mr. C and I have seemingly share a weak point, we are both control freaks. Basking in the glow of our progress, we forgot that we were humans. So yes, we had to be reminded that we were finite, limited, myopic. Events that we are currently facing allowed us to see the days through lenses that are tinted by humility and gratitude. Eyes that were so busy looking down to check our task list now have remembered to look up and yield.

In all our busyness, we have forgotten to ask.

I believe that Mr. C and I are more prepared and excited to see how our Ultimate Planner will create our special day and beyond. I know that we are much more ready to take on whatever snags, mindful not to be distracted from the real essence of all these preparations. We never felt more loved.

*****
By Dr. Woodrow Kroll -
During the Spanish-American War, Clara Barton, the founder of the Red Cross, was working in Cuba. One day Colonel Theodore Roosevelt came to her and offered to buy food for some of his sick and wounded Rough Riders. But she refused to sell him what he wanted. Roosevelt could not understand. He cared about his men, and he was willing to pay for the supplies out of his own funds. So he went to the surgeon in charge, who said to him, “Colonel, just ask for it!” A smile broke over Roosevelt’s face. Now he understood–the provisions were not for sale. “I will ask for it,” he said, and when he did, he got the food at once.

Joshua reminded the people that all they possessed–their land, their cities and their vineyards–were not the result of their own efforts. Certainly they had confronted the enemy. Obviously they had engaged in many dangerous and bloody battles. But those victories were not the ultimate source of their possessions. Instead, all that they owned was a gift from God.

God is not in the retail business. All of our good deeds, our generous gifts, our religious activities could not begin to buy our salvation. But God is willing to give it to us. When we receive Christ as our Savior, all that God has is ours for the asking.

Enjoy God’s gracious gifts today. Thank Him for providing them without price and without cost. They are yours not because you buy them, but because God gives them.

A role perfectly fit for her, with her trademark timing that gave her blockbuster movies– and hunk of a partner who has long proven his comedic flair.

Once again, she delivered in the romcom movie The Proposal while he has now become one Hollywood actor that I have added to my make-sure-you-watch-his-next-movies list.

It was such a hilarious movie that seeing a very nude Sandra Bullock didnt quite sink in. I mean she somehow managed to make such a scene be seen for what it is — a funny scene with the two leads in their birthday suits not the other way around. Am i making sense there..?

The one and only Sandra Bullock is perfect as the boss that everyone hates. And Ryan Reynolds — well, Wade Wilson from the X-men Origins….. ’nuff said. (wink wink). Okay, I started to like Reynolds when i watched Definitely Maybe where he plays a dad who shares with his daughter — quite creatively if I may add, about his past loves and how he met her mom.

I cannot recall when I started to like Sandra. She has entertained with her brilliant acting for quite a long while that I have lost track. Mr C and I also wondered who else in Hollywood can play the role of Margaret Tate.. who else can fit this role but Ms Bullock? Kate Hudson? nah, too bubbly. Anne Hathaway. Too beautiful. Katherine Heigl? Nope. I cant imagine her as a Cruella-ish. Jennifer Aniston? Too nice. Halley Berry? maybe hmmm

We only came up with one name – Julia Roberts. Maybe minus a few years yeah. Or maybe not.

Bottomline – this movie is yours. Ms Bullock.

I was in HK last week for a management training and Anna, our Aussie trainer asked us –

Why do babies crawl?

After several responses from the participants, she said that aside from the obvious need to move around while a baby’s legs cannot provide support, babies need to crawl so that they can understand the concept of space and distance. The process of crawling was meant to develop a child’s spatial intelligence.

And THAT my friends, was an a-ha moment.

LOL!!

My schedule has been toxic to say the least. I remember telling a friend that my right side of the brain just cannot compete with the hectic pace of my left brain. Too much ideas that i can blog but just not enough creative juices going.. know what i mean..?

My family, friends and Mr. C manage to keep me .. well.. sane.

Music ahh music is a source of comfort.. those special songs that sooth and calm.

I have heard her more famous song which went mainstream. And recently, I got hold of the entire album.
Corrinne May who sang “On the side of me”, has churned out so much more inspiring songs. Currently playing repeatedly in my ear are the songs “Safe in a Crazy World” and “Angel in Disguise”.
Her entire album is a worthy investment. Never mind that my officemate and tukayo Gino ripped the entire album for me, I will buy her album.

Powerful songs are made of these… a clear voice that sends out simple yet profound lyrics and the piano and violin to accompany.

** Corrinne May also has a Christmas album. I remember one day in December when i was in Fully Booked, her familiar voice was filling the entire place as she sings The first Noel. I just have to buy that one too..

I have heard it a few times but this morning, i was able to listen to a few lines of its lyrics.

I am loving John Legend’s heartbreak song, Everybody knows. Lovely lovely voice this man has.

Which got me into thinking…right.. There is no formula for a successful relationship.
I for one, hold a strong belief that complementary lifestyles mean a greater possibility for a successful relationship.

We can share the principles that worked in our own lives or in the lives of the people around us. We can have the nice sounding, generic guidelines, the how-to’s culled from self help books — which are helpful, dont get me wrong.

We have our own ideals about relationships but as John Legend puts it.. EVERYBODY Knows that no one really knows.

There is no one sure way.
Except maybe one..
Faith.
Faith in the One that brought you together.
And faith in each other.
Apart from that, it is pretty much…to each his own.

2.If you keep a scorecard of your friends’ ‘performance’ in the arena of friendship, you are missing the point.

3.When you find yourself explaining too much for every choice you make, ask yourself… why?

4.A person who has a lot of acquaintances is different from one with many friends.
For every ten ‘friends’ that you have, figure out how many are deep and lasting ones.

5.You usually refrain from asking questions that you don’t want people asking you.
One person’s casual inquiry is another’s intrusion of privacy.

6.Why do you desire to let people know that the latest trend was your initial idea? Why would you let people know after almost everyone has joined the bandwagon? If you were proud of that idea that you said was yours, then you should have been brave enough to make it known long before it became acceptable.

7.Lessons are usually learned from hindsight. History will determine if yours was a genuine motive or a good decision.

8.There is absolutely no way that one person can give answers and assurances to all crossroads that you will take. You hesitate probably because you don’t have enough faith in that person.

9.Why do we want to win the approval of someone we don’t even like, whose principles we don’t agree with? It is such a waste of time.

10.We ‘punish’ mistakes but ignore successes. We don’t pay attention until something goes wrong.

11.From the movie Curious Case of Benjamin Button. “We are defined by our opportunities, even those we miss.”
